I am Number Four is a teen action, science fiction film released in 2011 and is based on a book written by Pittacus Lore. The film is directed by D.J. Caruso and stars Alex Pettyfer (Number 4/John Smith), Timothy Olyphant (Henri), Teresa Palmer (Number 6), Diana Agron (Sarah Hart), Callan McAuliffe (Sam) and Kevin Durand (Mogadorian Commander).

The story is about aliens and their guardians hiding on Earth from intergalactic bounty hunters and can only be killed in numerical order; Number 4 is next on the list and this is his story. There were originally 9 aliens, known as Garde but as of the beginning of the movie 3 have already been hunted down and killed. They are the Loric, and are gifted children who are protected by their keepers on Earth. Each of the 9 has several of their own powers, known as legacies. All of them have enhanced strength and speed and have telekinesis, but they also have unique abilities. Some of these could include: the ability to shift to different places, elemental manipulation, energy blasts, healing, invisibility, shape shifting and the manipulation of ice, gravity, time, light or electricity, among many others. Their keepers, known as Cepan, do not possess legacies but help the Garde to develop and control theirs, as well as protecting them from the Mogadorians.

The Mogadorians come from the planet Mogadore, and after battling with the Loric, have begun to hunt down the gifted children who are the only ones who can destroy them. They can immobilize someone with fear if the look into their eyes. The film is really worth watching, and although there are quite a few differences between the book and the film, the book is also worth reading.
