Do you believe in ghosts? I do. I have since I was a kid and I always wondered why that was because I’ve obviously never seen one. At least, I don’t think I have. There was this one time where I thought I saw someone out in the garden but I blinked and it was gone. I didn’t sleep that night. I used to do ghost quizzes and I apparently have a little boy living on the roof of my shed, a man who wants to kill me stalking me and a little girl who sits at the end of my bed. I have no idea why I chose to scare myself like this but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I’ve thought a couple of times that there has been someone in my room. One I thought I saw someone standing at the end of my bed and another time I thought I saw someone sitting on my bed and leaning towards me. Now, these both happened recently and I’ve tried to write them off as a trick of the light but sometimes I wonder if it was something else. My sister also thought she saw someone leaning over her bed at night but when she switched the light on there was nothing there.
I’ve been thinking that the reason I have believed in ghosts since I was a kid is because maybe I used to be able to see them. I’ve been doing some research online about how children are able to see ghosts. Some of the stories I read were pretty creepy. There was one little girl who was asked her mother why there were three women in her conservatory. The mother told the child to ask them to leave and she said they already were. Also one kid got scared one night and asked her mother that she wanted the man in her room to leave and another night she woke up screaming, begging her mum not to let him take her. There was another little girl who was getting read a story by her father when, out of nowhere she asked her father why there was a woman standing next to the chair listening to the story as well. I don’t know about you but if my kid said that to me I’d move my family to remote house on a pile of rocks, just like in Harry Potter. But, then again, that could just as easily be haunted; maybe I should just make peace with the ghosts that live with me instead.
Recently, I was told about the Slender Man by my lovely sister who decided I should be as freaked out as she was. It started off with her showing me ‘Slendy’s Lullaby’ which is a song sung by a little girl about the faceless guy who watches her. If the content of this song didn’t freak me out then a child singing definitely would have. Little girl’s singing slow songs is the scariest thing, I swear. After hearing this she decided to look up Slender Man and see what it was all about. Apparently he started off as a meme about a guy who kidnapped children, but no one knew what happened to the victims. I did my own research and found out that some people use Slender Man as an excuse for some of the things they do. For example, I read a story about how two year old girls held down and stabbed a classmate because Slender Man told them to, luckily the victim survived. I don’t know if Slender Man is a ghost or something else but, either way, super scary.
